Week 257, race 2 of 2, March 9: We get by with a little help from our friends (Scott Green Memorial B.E.A.R.D. 5K)

This one was so special. A year ago, we cheered as Scott Green, our dear friend the Bearded Runner, crossed his 300th finish line. Two weeks later, we learned the morning of the Liberty Half that he had passed. I knew in my heart that my conversation at the inaugural B.E.A.R,D. Run that I was saying goodbye. It was beautiful to gather again to remember him. I chose to take all my photos today with running f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶s̶ family, because Scott nudged me into the Kansas City running community just enough to get things rolling. Every name I can call out in a race, every wave and high five, reminds me of Scott’s impact as the Mayor of Runtown KC. “Smile first, say Hi to a stranger, and never give up.” Love you, Scott.
