Oh, give me a home where the runners all roam — where the bold and the layered can play! Coldest race of the fall so far, but the fur hat earned its keep. This combo had been waiting in the hopper for months, and it proved the right call for a brisk November morning. Saw more of the run crew today, including Karen and her friend who identifies as “a deer person,” which made Karen decide she’d “play antelope” for the day. Took the pace easy, breathed in that crisp Kansas air — or at least tried to. The town smelled vaguely of rotten fruit, trash dumpsters, or possibly buffalo patties. (Authentic prairie atmosphere?) Even with the toga secured and the medal shining, my proudest (?) moment might have been when both Mrs. Cosplay Runner and the announcer called it “a yoga.”
Close enough.
