Week 231, race 1 of 2, August 24: The Runnaisance Festival! Huzzah? (Tiblow Trot 5 mile)

Huzzah…? I took a risk with this one, and my dehydration headache most of the day was the price. I knew it would be sweaty to run in this. I ordered a product I saw on a facebook ad (don’t judge) that blows air into your shirt, etc. to keep cool. The pair made it out of China, cleared customs in Chicago, and was transferred to the USPS, who has had it since at least Wednesday without delivery. Boooooo. The neck fan helped some, taking the “velvet” hat off helped some, and rolling up my sleeves helped some. None of which was enough. But dang if it didn’t look phenomenal. If I’d stayed around for the Tiblow Days parade, the Ren Fest cast might have recruited me like Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street. The connection to the race was pretty clear, as the KC Ren Fest is a highlight of the year for many. Can you guess what Bonner Springs/ Wyandotte County attraction will inspire next year’s costume? The “paintings” were filters inspired by the works of (in order they appear), Sir Peter Paul Rubens, Caravaggio, Johannes Vermeer (of “Girl with Earring” fame), and Jan van Eyck. Sorry but the Michelangelo one was just creepy.
