Wow. There were 4,000 people signed up for the 4-mile event alone, and I think we all tried to come in from 63rd Street at the same time. After over 10 minutes of waiting and moving just a few car lengths, I grabbed my bag of props, etc., and speed-walked the 0.6 miles to the start. Thank goodness for run friends gathered where I could get my ears put on and take a few fun photos. As always, the run was fun, picturesque, and far too crowded going through small spaces. And for the love of water-repellent fur, folks. If you are walking for any length of time, PLEASE move to the side, preferably to the right. At least the rain yesterday didn’t leave any mudslides. We managed to get a photo or 2 afterward and hightailed it to the car before another round of rain arrived. By the way, as my friend and perpetual runfie pal Dan put it, this was a mashup: the sea otter is the surfer dude of the animal kingdom.
