Mostly an excuse to find the full soundtrack of one of the all-time classics. The skinsuit seems to have reached the end of its life, since the zipper no longer does anything. I got a fair amount of waves, honks, and a window-down “love it” before it got too dark to be noticed. The best part of the run was just before it started, though. I stopped at the closest Price Chopper for the bathroom and a banana for after the run. As I round the corner by the bakery, I hear my “in real life” name in the jolliest tones I may have ever heard. The next thing I know, I’m getting a hug from Santa Jay! He and I sang together in the old North Pole, AKA Manhattan (KS) High School choirs. My mom’s daycare even got a visit at the Christmas party one year. He’s been donning the suit for 37 seasons! I have barely stopped smiling since then. In case you’re curious about the process of coming up with future costumes, I thought of and brainstormed playlists for this run next year by the time I finished showering.
