Week 244, November 24: Cleanup on Aisle 6.2 (Gobbler Grind 10K)

Back to a race I have done several times, even though it’s not one from “my” race/timing company. They added the 10K event back since they can’t do the full marathon in the area with a massive highway project that even cuts off the trail system in multiple places. It’s all good. It was the third time to wear the “thank you” bag, longest distance ever. But I feel like I finally got everything attached enough to stay put for the flouncing. The only casualty was the empty box of Stove Top. Next time I’ll try to remember to get some duct tape to reinforce the cardboard. Otherwise, a long red shoestring did wonders to keep everything on. A handful of my run crew, including one of my speedy friends. Even nursing multiple injuries, she smoked my pace. She had a fun story for me, though. At a recent evening run, she wore a lighted run vest. A little girl ooh-ed and aah-ed over it, and my pal thinks she got a little taste of what I get to experience week after week – the joy somebody else gets by seeing something cool or goofy you’ve worn to run. And for that, I am thankful.

All DIY and Cricut – it’s a bridal fabric I found at JOANN to mimic the look of opaque plastic but still have breathability
