It’s what has become my biggest #DIY of the race year. I chose the Loose Park Wall Fountain, officially nameless but often referred to as “Adam and Eve,” for it’s relative simplicity. #LOL It ended up that I took a bagful of pea gravel on vacation this week so I could use silicone to adhere pieces to a sample tile of vinyl flooring, then use that as a stamp onto the bodysuit before flying home. Then everything else had to be done in a day yesterday, with the “water” getting hot-glued on race morning. I was satisfied with the look overall, but it came at thercost of forgetting my speaker. Aaagh! I predicted I would get called “Bambi” multiple times, but that came after the race, with “camouflage,” “sandman,” “Texas Longhorn,” and “mushroom” coming first. The gals that decided it was Bambi had beer and a very NSFW guess on their short list. A friend knew right where the fountain was but thought it used water from the restrooms behind it, so she called me a “poop fountain!” ? The race director complimented me before the start and gave me a fist bump after. On the playlist: I initially wanted a “New Deal” set, but that would be nearly identical to my WWII soldier. Instead, I created what I thought of as a 95% secular cantata based on key words and thoughts from Genesis 1-3 and the first part of chapter 4. Sad I couldn’t share it louder, but happy with the morning, exhausted as I am.
