Fresh off a mini ice age, comparatively, summer comes roaring back this week. The heat from this meteor was only just starting. For the second week in a row, I showed up without the full costume on, but this time I had a little audience to watch it inflate. The run itself was nothing short of brutal. Yes, I had a fan on my backside the whole time. That did not mitigate against the sun bearing down for all but about half a mile on what will likely be the hottest day of 2023 so far. That said, it was all kudos all the time. I even got a smirk from a water stop when I gave “Rex” a drink before taking mine. The real fun came afterward, when the Kids Dino Dash coordinator asked if I’d like to join. The under-5 crew chased me and 2 full-body T-Rexes (who didn’t run in the 5K/8K), then we chased the 6-12s. It was mayhem, it was wet grass, it was a quick but rawr-some party. I’ll do this one again in the future, but the inflatable kit will have to stay in the cooler months.
New this week – check out https://www.youtube.com/@kccosplayrunner for the first of many videos to come (maybe not weekly yet, too much pressure!). *I will also add some of the TT archives little by little.
