Week 157, race #2, March 11: You see any snakes? You’re welcome. (Westport St. Patrick’s Day 4 Mile Run)

I promise I didn’t speed too much getting to this one. Of course with its patron saint on the way, Ireland’s own weather had to show up hard. Can’t have rainbows without some rain, right? Other than wet roads, though, the rain mostly held off during the race itself. Parts were a right struggle. The steep down-and-up hills at the turnaround point always kick me @rse. Miles 3 and 4 were plagued by a right shoelace that wouldn’t stay tied for anything. But overall, I absolutely enjoyed the day. Sooo many folks wanted a photo with me afterward, I thought I might not get to leave. Several made the sign of the cross as we passed. And as one gal asked for a blessing, and I had none memorized, here’s one I made up. “Made you ever have abundance to drown the shamrock, and never may the whisky be Fireball.” Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit!
