This time it seems DIY got the best of me. The “hair” took so many iterations, only to land on a “sinister villain” wig from Spirit Halloween and copious gel and spray. Definitely had the “emo cow” vibe. Sorry for the sunken eyes and mouth – the face paint wasn’t dark enough and it was too early and cold for sunglasses. Mayor Quinton Lucas saw me cross the start, and he said, “It’s Swamp Thing!” as I passed. I got the chance after I finished to correct it with what I was, and he commented that my creativity was inspiring. Somewhere, a stranger has the pic of me with the mayor, as well of one with me, herself and her friend, and the iconic KC Superman. I hope they found my email and that I can remember how to log in to retrieve what they sent!
A brand new experience, inspired by Kyle from the Back of the Pack podcast, was to cheer on finishers after the 4:00 mark. I got to see my friend the Bearded Runner and loan him and so many others some Donatello energy to make it that last .15 mile. Because how else would you pass the time except wearing adult-size Underoos in the road? SO. MUCH. FUN. 10/10 will repeat the experience.
