Week 226, July 20: What do you know, I didn’t get lost (Amelia Earhart 8K)

This was a day of surprises, not all of them nice. We woke up to widespread rain that lasted until well past the race. That has led to the expected chafing from being too wet for too long. I forgot to grab the speaker from the charger, and the one that stays in my car was dead with no time to charge in the car. So my music was more subdued than usual, although some people probably prefer that. (The music cycles between music from Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Florida.) I didn’t really know what to expect while carrying a triptych of pool noodles lashed together with bendy toys, hot glue, and carpenter’s tape. It wasn’t too bad. The worst part was the super-steep hills. This one makes Tiblow Trot 5-mile seem mundane. The last-minute addition of the aviator cap/goggles/scarf was just right: 1. Another runner bought the exact same kit 2. The scarf was handy for wiping rain off the watch.

All costume pieces from Amazon; dollar store pool noodles and glue stuff from Wal-Mart (check out this cordless glue gun)
