When I can wear an outfit like this and not win the costume contest, or even really stand out, you know you’ve got a winning themed race. We had Slash (thanks for the cig, man), Tina Turner, KISS, and lots and lots of big hair. The inaugural I Wanna Rock 5K was a smash. The temps and humidity were also face-melting, just in a different way. My persona today was Stacee Jaxx from the musical/movie “Rock of Ages,” with a small selection of the original songs that inspired that score. I learned that inflatable guitars (actual air guitars, if you will) start to bend when they deflate a little, and that it’s pretty much impossible to hold a prop cigarette in your mouth, run, and look halfway cool all at the same time. I hung around a bit and took some group photos, then grabbed some extra miles along 135th on the way back to the hotel.
