Week 238, October 12: There are three things I’ve learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin (Jared Coones Memorial 5K Pumpkin Run)

First time doing the Jared Coones Memorial Pumpkin Run. I did not that ALL of the Olathe elementary school community would be there! It was packed. There were 3, maybe 4 shuttle bus locations and they did a separate wave start for the school groups after the others. Still a great many short humans zipping around, stopping abruptly, walkers in the dead center of the course. I didn’t trip, we’re all good. Tons of community support as the course went through 100% local neighborhoods, including past the house that Jared lived at during his short life. Got more callouts to “Charlie Brown” than Linus… Right IP, at least. And one teen complimented my dreds. ???? The yarn-wig actually turned out OK. Hot glued blanket yarn to a scrap of beige fabric through the wig cap, then used wardrobe tape to keep the front pieces still. I’d add a few more strands if I use this one again. I did a little bit extra getting back to our Airbnb, sans wig, blankie, and sign.

Same base and shoe covers as for Charlie Brown, including Saxx Kinetic Sport shorts and new Zensah compression leg sleeves
