A week with no races at all. WHATTT?? As I often do, I headed to checkiday.com to see what themes I could get going. A completely made-up holiday (as are all holidays if you think about it) named Sing Out Day? Definitely. I can work with that. For quite a while this costume was slated to be a microphone. I wear all black, do “something” for the mesh part. That “something” just would not come together. So, in the last couple months, it switched to a karaoke machine. I got a strap-style iPad case and found that cinching up with a second simple run belt worked perfectly to keep it from whacking the bod too much. The rope lights were a lot more tricky. In the end, zip ties FTW – just had to keep the clipped ends away from me. When this one reappears (for a night run down the road), I’ll want a foam pad between my chest and the lights, but everything stayed put vertically. As for the route, it’s supposed to be giving “big microphone with slightly squished handle.” I had to stop a mile or so short, so I sketched in where the end would be.
