Back to the hometown, though it seems more and more unfamiliar every year. Due to construction on the K-177 bridge into town, the route was completely changed up from usual. Instead of a point-to-point from Exit 313, we started and finished on the field inside The Bill. For the first time, we went off pavement and straight into animal, uh, aroma. There was literally a street sign for Compost Road! That was different. Back to the areas around the stadium midway through, then a final few miles out and back through the KSU campus. It got warmer and my pace showed positive splits throughout (slower and slower), but I will always love this race and the memories it recalls of my days in Manhattan. Context for the playlist: I lived in MHK from 1980 (second grade) through 1999 (bachelor’s plus some). I’ve never had country at the top of my preferences, but at times I gave it lots of rotation. This set is a couple songs from each year. Some weren’t as up-tempo as folks might have preferred, but the songs got as many compliments as the “boots!”
