A rain delay, then greenhouse conditions and grow, baby, grow. My first time doing the Head for the Cure 5K – huge event! Got to see some local celebrities, including KC weather royalty Gary Lezak, whose brain tumor journey has inspired many. There were also many friends old and new, and it was fun to at least wave at them. Not a true DIY, but I had to take a wire out of the bottom of the “pot” and the flower only had room for 2/3 of my face. Sold as an adult costume, but not this 6’4″ adult. This theme was inspired from seeing the design for this year’s event. While she did not fight brain cancer, I also thought of my grandmother who passed on August 11. She loved plants and flowers, and I remember fondly many hours spent in her plant store in Columbus, OH, as well as buying trips that gave me the chance to go to Florida, Disney and all.
