Week 125, July 30/31: A Man After Midnight? That’s me. (Midnight Run 10K)

Well, that was… different. Mostly different good, with some unexpected challenges. We had booked a hotel room 0.25 mile away from the start, only to be told at check-in that the “system” had overbooked by like 50 rooms. RUDE. Got another room not too much farther, but had low expectations with George Strait in town. Tried with little success to take a late nap, but mostly got to the start line of the Midnight Run 5K/10K (I did the 10K) having been awake for about 16 hours. A few glow elements got scratched last second because they wouldn’t stay on, but pretty happy with the look overall. The temp was amazing for the end of July, but it was within about a degree of dewpoint, so it was like running through a mister on full blast. I’ll call it a PR for earliest time in the day finishing a race! Also, there were bats! ?
